EAC-1, an engineering concept of HWO. It is unlikely that this will be the telescope's final design.  NASA Goddard/Conceptual Image Labs

As stated by NASA's Habitable World's Observatory WWW page, "The Habitable Worlds Observatory is a large infrared/optical/ultraviolet space telescope recommended by the National Academies’ Pathways to Discovery in Astronomy and Astrophysics for the 2020s.

Habitable Worlds Observatory would be the first telescope designed specifically to search for signs of life on planets orbiting other stars."

I was delighted to be part of the Science, Technology, Architecture Review Team (START) that helped guide the early phases of HWO.  I am co-lead the AGN through Cosmic Time working group, with Dr. Vivian U.

In summer 2025 I was selected to serve on the HWO Community Science & Instrument Team (CSIT), who's mission is help "bring the expertise of the scientific community directly into the early stages of planning for the Habitable Worlds Observatory".
