My community involvement approach can be found at the button below.  This vision helps to guide my approach to research, teaching, and interactions to the community at large.
I am the Chair of the Board of Directors for the JSPS Alumni Association of the USA and Canada, and hope to continue to connect San Antonio with Japan.
I am a member of the Gemini Board, charged to oversight of the twin 8m telescopes.
I am a member of the Canary Islands Decedents Association, after living in Canarias for several years.  This has helped me plan events at the Witte Museum and Scobee Planetarium here in San Antonio.
I enjoy to serve on committees at the NSF, NASA, etc.
I really enjoyed to work with members of City Hall and a local artist to produce a 1:11 billion scaled artist view of the Solar System, with the ribbon cutting occurring October 2025.
I have been deeply saddened by the destruction wrought by the volcano in La Palma, and have been happy to help the fund raising efforts of CIDA to provide relief to those on the beautiful island.  These were featured in many places, including La Palma Radio, TPR, and Antenna 3.
The north of San Antonio and into the Hill Country had a grandstand seat to watch the eclipses that came to this area.  To help raise awareness, we (especially Dr. Fuller and Mr. Schaefer) partnered with the City of San Antonio's councilwoman Dr. Adrian Rocha Garcia, the Texas Cavaliers, and our Adobe friends to produce a coloring book for kids to promote them.
